This small tree or shrub prefers full sun to partial shade and grows in a variety of soils, is drought tolerant, has white flowers in early spring, edible red/yellow fruit that ripens in the summer, good for jams and jellies, and provides food and cover for wildlife. It also plays an important role for pollinators as one of the first food sources due to the early blooms.
