Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis)
A deciduous tree with a medium growth rate and reaches a mature height of 40-60 ft. This tree prefers full sun to partial shade and works well in a variety of soils, has dark red berries that turn purple in the fall providing food for birds, and is a good choice in windbreaks. The berries attract several bird species including; cedar waxwings, mockingbirds, and robins. Hackberry is a tough and durable tree that can withstand wind, varying temperatures, and air pollution. Sold in a bundle of 25 bare root seedlings, 18-24" tall.
