Tim farms 160 acres of land, which has been in the family for more than 100 years. He has implemented a Forest Management Plan and developed a Conservation Stewardship plan for targeted fertilizer and pesticide applications.
In order to reduce erosion, Tim created over a half mile of grassed waterways and installed a grade stabilization structure to protect a ravine. He has practiced no till farming for more than 10 years and uses cover crops as well.
In addition to utilizing conservation farming practices, Tim installed 24 solar panels on his property for electricity generation and uses a 1,500 gallon cistern to collect rainwater for reuse.
Tim and his wife Janel were selected as the Washington Conservation District Outstanding Conservationists in 2015.
