SMART Salting for Roads Certification Training

This training for plow drivers and winter maintenance professionals will cover a variety of topics, including: Application rates, calibrating equipment; weather conditions; storing materials; environmental effects; new maintenance methods; de-icing and anti-icing.

This MPCA Smart Salting for Roads Certification Training class offers more efficient winter maintenance best practices for plowing, de-icing and anti-icing application, storage, and more. The new chloride requirements in the recently released MS4 permit will also be covered. Participants will learn how to integrate science with practical winter maintenance on roads while minimizing impacts on the environment.

This training is in-person at the Dakota Lodge in West St. Paul. Refreshments will be provided.

Earn the MPCA Smart Salting for Roads Certification and be listed on the MPCA Smart Salting Training webpage. The online test is offered at the end of training and participants are provided 1 hour to complete the test online. The certification is valid for five years.
