Have you seen this invasive species in your neighborhood? Oriental (Asiatic) Bittersweet may look very similar to American Bittersweet, but is a very aggressive woody perennial vine that can easily strangle mature trees and shrubs. It is a serious threat to our native habitat, and we need your help to fight it!
At this FREE workshop, experts from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, the St. Croix River Association, and Washington Conservation District will guide participants through how to identify the vine, how to report an infestation to local agencies, and review management techniques. The workshop will be followed by a brief hike at the Oakdale Nature Preserve to demonstrate an area where park managers have been working to eradicate the species. The trails are paved and accessible for all. Please wear comfortable walking shoes!
